Friend Makin’ Monday: Awkward!

It’s an interesting week for FMM, for sure!

Inappropriate Questions

1. Will you vote in the upcoming presidential election? Of course I will. At times it feels useless, but that’s when it’s most important to exercise my freedom to vote.

2. Do you say curse words? Occasionally, but it doesn’t come naturally to me at all.

3. Have you ever kissed a stranger? Yep, back in my crazy (late) teenage years.

4. If you could choose to meet only one fellow blogger in person right now who would you choose? Since I just read her book and she’s something of a hilarious inspiration to me, I’d have to say Jenny Lawson, the Bloggess. Of course, then I’d have to overcome my anxiety about talking to strangers (which would be enormously ironic in this case) and try not to come off as a creepy fangirl stalker.

5. What is the most inappropriate pick-up line that anyone has ever used on you? Not the line, specifically, but I was at a restaurant by myself, eating and reading a book, and a potential Romeo came over and used the old, tired, “What are you reading?” line. I turned the cover of the book to show him the title, and kept reading. He kept trying to engage me in conversation and started to get a bit threatening, so I finally had to shut him down with a threat to call the police if he didn’t leave me alone.

Dude. No stranger (and sometimes no friend or family member) is important enough to get between me and the book I’m reading.

6. Do you sing in the shower? The shower, the car, the street, my office, the living room, etc. Oh, and choir practice. I sing there, too!

7. How often do you get drunk? I generally have a drink with dinner, more than that and I just get sleepy and curl up in a ball on the sofa.

8. Have you ever been fired from a job? Oh yes. It was a combination of creative salesmanship (involving using coupons to help customers save money, the horror), and the insinuation that I was dating my boss. I was (we’re married now, and have been for almost 9 years), but c’est la vie! I hated the job anyway, and I’m in a much better one now.

9. Were you popular in high school? Not really. I was a drama/choir geek, though, so I always hung with those groups. Plus I was in mostly honors/AP classes so I hung with the little clique of smart kids too.

10. Who is your current celebrity crush? Joseph Gordon-Levitt. And Chris Evans. And Chris Hemsworth. And Hugh Jackman.

Rules, schmules (Friend Makin’ Monday)

On a Tuesday. Hey, give me a break, I was on vacation last week and the days all start to jumble together.

In the Kitchen

1. How often do you cook at home? Me personally? Rarely. Fortunately, my husband enjoys cooking so he cooks pretty much every night. Win for me!

2. Do you eat more fresh produce, frozen or canned produce? It’s about half and half. Fresh potatoes, carrots, onions and fruit, and frozen corn/green beans/veggie mixes.

3. What are a few unusual staples that can always be found in your kitchen? Unusual? Hmm. If olive oil and garlic are unusual…(did I mention I’m Italian?)

4. Look in your fridge, then tell us about the healthiest thing in there. Either the carrots or the nonfat yogurt.

5. Now share the most unhealthy thing in it. My husband’s cans of Coke.

6. Do you eat leftovers? Sure, I’ll have leftovers if we make enough; normally we only have enough for the one meal though.

7. Do you use coupons at the supermarket? I notice them in the paper, and I save them when I get them with my receipt, but I always forget to bring them with me.

8. How often do you try new recipes? Well, given that I’m not the cook, I hardly ever try new recipes. My husband improvises sometimes, but we do tend to stay in food ruts.

9. Do you make grocery lists? Do you stick to them? If it’s a planned grocery trip, I have a list. And a system. There may or may not be route planning involved.

10. If you could buy one food item that would magically be calorie-free, which item would you choose? Strangely? I think cheese. Sharp, delicious cheddar.
